Winter Storm Warning Downgraded to Winter Weather Advisory for ...
(KNSI) – The National Weather Service has canceled the winter storm warning posted for central Minnesota and has downgraded it to a winter weather advisory.
The advisory is set to expire at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
Forecasters predict warmer air will keep rain as the dominant precipitation tonight. Areas in far western Minnesota will likely see all snow. Colder air will move early Tuesday morning, causing a changeover back to a snow/sleet mixture. The change will occur from west to east, with a chance for icing on the leading edge.
About two to five more inches of snow are possible. The area could get strong 40-mile-per-hour northwest winds early Tuesday morning, leading to blowing and drifting snow. The system will exit on Tuesday.
(KNSI) – Meteorologists say to plan on slippery road conditions and patchy blowing snow that could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
Another main concern will be strong northwest winds of 30 to 40 miles an hour, causing blowing snow in more open areas in central and western Minnesota before the system moves out on Tuesday morning.
