Wind warning for Howe Sound - The Squamish Reporter

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Howe Sound.

Strong winds are expected to hit southern sections of Howe Sound, including Bowen Island, today and tonight. The outflow winds will be northerly at 80 km/h, gusting to 100, which may result in damage and injury.

The arctic ridge of high pressure over the BC interior combined with an approaching Pacific front is the cause of these strong winds, says Environment Canada. Although the winds will ease somewhat in the afternoon, they will continue to be very strong through tonight.

High winds may cause power outages and fallen tree branches. People are advised to be cautious and secure any loose objects the wind may toss.
