NBC has given a series order to “Happy’s Place,” the Reba McEntire-led pilot the network ordered in January, and greenlit “Lopez vs. Lopez” for Season 3. The multi-cam comedy will debut during the 2024-2024 broadcast season.

“Happy’s Place” follows Bobbie (Reba McEntire), who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister (Belissa Escobedo) she never knew she had. The cast also includes Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk and Rex Linn. Universal Television is the studio.

With Kevin Abbott writing the series and executive producing alongside Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, Julie Abbott and McEntire, “Happy’s Place” reunites the team who produced “Reba” for six seasons from 2001 to 2007. That comedy, which ran on the WB and later the CW, was executive produced by Hanel and Schultheis for its entire run, while Kevin Abbott joined after Season 1. Hanel and Schultheis also executive produced “Malibu Country,” which starred McEntire and ran on ABC for one season from 2012 to 2013, with Abbott working on several episodes.

Since the end of “Malibu Country,” McEntire’s acting credits have included the recurring role of June in “Young Sheldon” on CBS, playing Sunny Barnes in Season 3 of “Big Sky” and the Lifetime movie “Reba McEntire’s The Hammer.” She also serves as a judge on NBC’s “The Voice.”

Abbott has written and produced for classics such as “Roseanne” and “The Golden Girls,” with more recent projects including “Last Man Standing” and “Cristela.”
