Marner was a driver in the Leafs’ play as the club finished seventh in the NHL in goals against, up from 19th overall the previous season.

Marner led the NHL in takeaways with 104, becoming one of just seven players to reach 100 since the statistic started being recorded in 1997-98.
The 25-year-old was fifth among NHL forwards in ice time at 21 minutes, 17 seconds a game, and was first over the boards whenever it came time for the Leafs to kill a penalty. Marner was 13th among NHL forwards in ice time while shorthanded.
It’s the first time Marner has been voted a finalist for an NHL award.

Hischier has been nominated for the first time.
Marner, who led the Leafs in scoring with 99 points, would be the second Leafs player to win the Selke, 30 years after Doug Gilmour became the first in 1992-93.
