London Knights hosting OHL title celebration for fans on Saturday

Fans of the London Knights will get a chance this weekend to celebrate their latest OHL title before the team begins the chase for the Memorial Cup next week.

The Knights are hosting a championship celebration on Saturday at Budweiser Gardens.

Fans will be able to enter the arena for free between 2 and 4 p.m. for the event that will include a happy hour, team awards and the biggest award of them all: the J. Ross Robertson Cup for winning the OHL championship after a 16-2 playoff run.

The Knights toppled the Oshawa Generals in a 7-1 romp Wednesday to sweep the final series. London outscored Oshawa 31-9 throughout the series to secure the team’s fifth OHL title in two decades and the first since 2016.

London also swept the Flint Firebirds in the first round, and the Kitchener Rangers in the quarterfinals. The Saginaw Spirit was the only to win against the Knights, taking two games in the OHL Western Conference final.
The Knights will head to Saginaw for the team’s sixth appearance in the Memorial Cup. London won the cup on home ice in 2005 and again in 2016.
The Knights will face the Spirit, Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League and the the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League. All three league champions made history in the CHL by simultaneously ending their league finals in sweeps.
London faces off against Drummondville in the round robin on May 25 at 4 p.m., followed by Moose Jaw on May 27 at 7:30 p.m., and Saginaw on May 29 at 7:30 p.m.
