IIHF - Veit Oswald Suspended

The 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Junior Championship Disciplinary Panel has issued a one (1) game suspension to Germany’s Oswald Veit (#13) for a check from behind againstLatvia’s Dans Locmelis (#11).
 
The incident occurred at 54:37 in the 3rd period of Game #16 between Germany and Latvia. The Championship Disciplinary Panel determined that the Player delivered a check to a vulnerable player who was not aware of the impending hit, and therefore was unable to protect or defend himself from the hit with the contact made on the back part of his body. The Player’s actions therefore constitute a violation of Official Playing Rule 43 (Checking from Behind).
 
Due to the suspension, the Player will miss today’s game between Canada and Germany.
