Warriors Drop Home Game To Spurs

The Golden State Warriors fell 126-113 against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night at Chase Center.

The Spurs led for almost the entirety of the game, with the lead swelling up to 21 points in the third quarter.

San Antonio shot a season-best 51.5 percent from 3-point range in the win, and had five players score 17-plus points, led by Keldon Johnson's 22 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

Klay Thompson scored a game-high 27 points in the defeat, while Jonathan Kuminga added 26 points. Brandin Podziemski filled up the stat sheet, recording eight points, seven assists and six rebounds.

NEW STARTING FIVEWith Stephen Curry out due to an ankle injury, Chris Paul returned to the starting lineup, recording his 12th start of the season. Paul was active early, scoring the first basket of the night for the Dubs and finished the game with 10 points and a team-high nine assists.

Trayce Jackson-Davis also got the start on Saturday, making his third career start, and his first start since Jan. 2. Jackson-Davis was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, recording 11 points and six rebounds in the defeat, including throwing down two alley-oop slams.

KLAY LEADS THE WAY ON OFFENSEAfter scoring 25 points on Thursday, Klay Thompson once again led the Warriors in scoring, recording 27 points on Saturday. Thompson scored eight points in the first frame, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to beat the first quarter horn.

He finished the night shooting 8-for-16 from the field, including 5-for-10 from 3-point range and making all six of his free throw attempts. He also had a team-best plus-2 plus-minus.

THIRD QUARTER RUNFalling behind 64-43 in the third quarter, the Warriors went on a 16-4 run to cut the deficit to nine points, but the Spurs were able to knock down threes to never allow the Warriors back into the game.
