Episode 3 of HBO’s The Last of Us is next! Here’s how you can watch the third episode of the first season.

If you don’t know the story of The Last of Us, then you were probably shocked by what happened at the end of the second episode. Tess was infected. Before she turned, she sacrificed herself to make sure Joel and Ellie made it out of the building safe. Joel lost one of the one people in the world he cared about and now he has a decision to make. Does he take Ellie to the west coast to create a cure or go home?

Of course Joel is going to take Ellie where she needs to go. First, it happened in the game. Some things may be changed from the source material, but not this. Second, we see Joel say it in multiple trailers. Third, he’ll want to make sure Tess didn’t die in vain. Lastly, this wouldn’t be much of a show if he didn’t. There has to be a journey. Plus, we all know that Joel will eventually come to look at her like family. You don’t need to know the story to see that coming.

Nick Offerman will make his debut in episode 3 as Bill. He’s one of the most important characters of the series. In the third episode’s trailer, it was revealed that we would see more of Bill’s love story with Frank. Frank was mentioned in the game, but fans never saw him alive. Like Sarah in the first episode, it appears that there will be more backstory on Frank. This will make his inevitable death even more gut wrenching.

As The Last of Us is a HBO Max-exclusive series, the third episode of season 1 – and the rest of the season – can only be viewed on the paid subscription service itself in the U.S (HBO Max).
