Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for 32 counties, severe storm ...

A severe thunderstorm watch covers most of southern Lower Michigan until 7 p.m. The line of severe storms has formed and is zipping to the east across Lower Michigan. This round of severe t-storms will hit fast and be over quickly. Most of the severe weather could be over and east into Lake Huron and Canada by 5 p.m.

Here is the outline of the severe thunderstorm watch. The blue shaded counties are in the severe thunderstorm watch.

Be ready for a quick moving line of thunderstorms. At any one location the storminess will only last about an hour, with the most severe part of the thunderstorms actually only lasting a few minutes.

The thunderstorms in the line have the main threat of brief gusts around 60 mph. Large hail is also possible in the eastern part of Lower Michigan as the storms reach peak strength. An isolated tornado is possible in any isolated thunderstorm that forms out ahead of the main line of storms.

So far the highest wind gusts have not been officially severe at 46 mph. The storms are expected to strengthen some over the next two hours.

Move inside a permanent building before the storms get to you. You may need to take cover for about one hour.
