SECOND PERIOD0.0: That was as commanding of a period as you can get. The Oilers give up the opening goal of the second but proceed to score five more times in the frame to take a 9-1 lead into the intermission.
4:26: THERE IT IS! ASSIST NO. 100 FOR CONNOR! Who could the captain assist other than Hyman, who put home his 54th of the season on an odd-man rush with McDavid after the captain dangled his way around a sliding Shark. He's the fourth different player in NHL history to reach the century for assists behind Gretzky, Lemieux and Orr and he beats out Nikita Kucherov to the mark this season after the Russian was sat on 99 helpers. It's now 9-1 Oilers.
McDavid records his 100th assist on Hyman's back-door finish
6:11: MAKE THAT EIGHT! On an almost mirror sequence to Ceci's goal 32 seconds earlier, Bouchard is able to finish off Corey Perry's back-door feed over Cooley, who gets the yank mercifully following eight goals allowed on 21 shots. 8-1 Oilers.
Perry sets up Bouchard for the defenceman's 18th of the year
6:43: CECI TO THE BACK POST! \The defenceman turned into a forward on the play and jumped into the rush before going back post and accepting Adam Henrique's pin-point pass. 15:19: WARREN WILLS IT OVER THE LINE! The winger gets it right back for Edmonton with his second goal of the game, battling in the crease and pushing the 5-1 goal into the back of the net from his chest with Cooley sprawled out in the crease after a bad bounce.
Foegele whacks away at a loose puck in front for his second
18:02: The Sharks squeak one through. Russian forward Daniel Gushchin throws a soft backhand on Skinner and it manages to find its way through at the near post to get San Jose on the scoreboard. That's one the Oilers netminder will want back. 4-1 Oilers.

4:59: Zach Hyman high-sticks Henry Thrun while chasing down a dump-in to award the Sharks their first sustained opportunity to get on the board, having only registered four shots so far.
9:20: DRAISAITL WINS IT, FOEGELE FINISHES IT. A terrific press and steal from Leon Draisaitl along the half-boards in Edmonton's zone leads to the German pushing it into the path of Foegele for a quick counter-attack, and the winger takes it himself on a two-on-one with Nugent-Hopkins and goes five-hole on Cooley. It's all Edmonton right now – expectedly– up three goals after 10 minutes. 3-0.
Foegele finishes a two-on-one created by Draisaitl's defensive effort
11:07: Two close misses for Edmonton to make it a three-goal lead. Ryan McLeod strikes the crossbar on a wide-open look before Dylan Holloway pushes the rebound through the crease and back out the same way it entered. The winger wasn't able to react quickly enough to put a decent shot on the opportunity.
15:59: RICO MAKES IT A TWO-GOAL LEAD! Brett Kulak's point shot that came quickly off an offensive-zone faceoff is saved by Cooley before he pushed the puck into the slot, where Adam Henrique was waiting to put it top shelf on the rebound before sliding into the Sharks netminder. 2-0.

19:07: WELCOME BACK, CONNOR McDAVID! It won't go down as his 100th assist of the season, but the captain is officially back looking like his regular elite self before the playoffs with a goal less than a minute into his return from a three-game absence. The captain glides up the ice and effortlessly goes past one Sharks defender before banking his 32nd of the year off another blueliner's skateblade to beat Devin Cooley only 53 seconds into the game. We're still on 100-assist watch. 1-0 Oilers.
