What's on the socials following the Oilers' loss to Kings in Game 2?

X was abuzz following the latest instalment of the Western Conference First Round playoff game that saw the Los Angeles Kings edge the favoured Edmonton Oilers 5-4 at Rogers Place on Wednesday.

The game was much more what the series was expected to look like coming in, with a feisty Kings lineup scraping together enough points to keep up with the Oilers’ high-octane offence on the scoreboard until it becomes anyone’s game in the end.

It was nothing like the series opener two days earlier, where the Oilers jumped to an early lead on their way to pumping seven pucks past Cam Talbot.

Regardless, the series is tied 1-1 as the backdrop now switches to L.A. on Friday. Here’s some of what’s been written on the series’ latest script:

While he is known for his scoring prowess on the way to his first 50-goal season, Zach Hyman left a different kind of lasting impression on Kings forward Phillip Danault, coming up with the hit of the series with a clean, mid-ice check that had Oilers fans in an uproar.

While Hyman was playing the role of enforcer on patrol, a less-than-usual suspect took up the mantle of goalscorer in this game.

It’s true. Two games in and Oilers rookie Dylan Holloway has scored twice as many playoff goals as Maurice ‘Rocket’ Richard trophy winner and (not-quite-70-goal-scorer) Auston Matthews.

But the conversation didn’t just focus on the ice.
