Boulton will serve the suspension in Wednesday’s much-anticipated tilt with the host Saginaw Spirit. The 6-foot, 210-pounder sat the final two games of the OHL’s Western Conference final against the Spirit for a slew foot and has been suspended several times in his first major junior campaign.

At one point earlier this season, he’d dressed for 18 games but racked up 15 games in suspensions. He earned a 10-game ban after elbowing Soo Greyhounds captain Bryce McConnell-Barker in the head moments after the London native had scored against the Knights in a December game.

“Everybody makes mistakes,” Knights assistant GM Rob Simpson said at the time.

The Knights were the most heavily penalized team in the Ontario Hockey League this season.

In the regular season, Boulton registered three goals, two assists and 63 penalty minutes in 40 games. His younger brother, 17-year-old Ryder Boulton, put up similar numbers for the Knights this season.

Their father is former NHL player Eric Boulton, who played OHL hockey for a Sarnia Sting team coached by Mark Hunter, now London’s owner/general manager.
