Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League as Trent Alexander-Arnold produced a sparkling performance in their 3-1 win at Fulham.
The result moves Jurgen Klopp’s side level on 74 points with leaders Arsenal, a point ahead of champions Manchester City who have a game in hand.
Alexander-Arnold was making his first Premier League start since suffering a lateral knee ligament injury against Burnley in February and he created a glorious early opportunity that Luis Diaz botched at the far post.
The England international let former Fulham man Harvey Elliott have a good from an inviting free-kick that he duly drilled into the wall. Alexander-Arnold was not feeling so generous after the half-hour when Joao Palhinha’s latest foul granted the Reds another opportunity.
He whipped right-footed over the wall to leave Bernd Leno with no chance, although Fulham were level at the break when Liverpool failed to deal with a ball into their box and Thomas Castagne rammed home his first goal for the London club.
Another first proved more decisive as Ryan Gravenberch dispatched his maiden Premier League goal from outside the box after Liverpool seized upon an error from Alex Iwobi.
Diogo Jota poached a third to make the points safe and get Liverpool back on track with their intentions to take the title race to the wire in Klopp’s farewell season.
