And Ryan Reynolds showed his dedication to the team on Sunday as he watched them take on Sheffield United in Sunday's FA Cup match at Wales' Racecourse Ground.

The Deadpool actor, 46, experienced a complete range of emotions during the rollercoaster match, which ended with a 3-3 equaliser.

Wrexham, who are National League leaders, almost managed to knock out Sheffield United and reach the fifth round of the cup for the first time in 26 years - before the result meant they will go to a replay.

For Ryan in the stands, the match was a journey from joy, to agony, to excitement, before ending with devastation at the 3 all result.

Things kicked off with Wrexham being 1-0 down at half time, before bringing it up with two goals shortly after, with the actor ecstatic to see a 2-2 result on the cards.

Ryan appeared overjoyed with the 2-1 lead as he flashed a massive smile in the stands while watching his team with a hope of winning. 

But things got disappointing when Sheffield brought the score back to 2-2 in the 65th minute, leaving the co-owner with his head in one hand.

Wrexham came in strong with a 3-2 score in the final four minutes as forward Paul Mullin made the goal, leaving Ryan overjoyed as the win was in sights.

But knocking him off of cloud nine was John Egan, who shattered dreams of a win with a goal for Sheffield in the final seconds of the game - leading to an equaliser result. 

Upon arriving to the match, the Hollywood star also graciously signed autographs for waiting fans before kick off.

Admitting that he loves to meet the fans, he shared before the match: 'I love getting here early because I get to meet some of the locals and some of the supporters who have been coming here for decades and decades.'

Ryan wore a khaki green Canada Goose jacket, over the top of a beige knitted jumper.

He was seen posing for photos with the clamouring crowd before speaking to to BBC Sport's Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Mark Hughes. 

While talking about the 2020 takeover of Wrexham, Ryan told the BBC: 'It's been the greatest experience of my entire life and an adventure unlike anything else. 

'This club and this town and all it entails is just magic. We're here to support this community and club and raise it as high as possible,' he added. 

His appearance at the match comes after he donated £1,600 to children's football team in Wrexham for them to buy a new kit.

The actor made the surprise donation via a GoFundMe page set up by Kayleigh Barton, whose son Keegan, 11, plays in the under-12s team - FC United of Wrexham.

She originally made a plea for £480 for the uniforms so the boys could match 'as they work so hard'.

Kayleigh told Sky News: 'I was nearly in tears. I know how much that money means to the club and the lads. Happy is an understatement.'

She told BBC Breakfast: 'I logged in and it said Ryan Reynolds and I just said "oh my god", I started shaking I just couldn't believe it.'

Ryan donated £600 first, followed by an extra £1000 and messaged the team's founder Andrew Ruscoe, to say: 'Enjoy the new uniforms!'

Andrew told local newspaper The Leader that he'd asked the actor to retweet the fundraising appeal but didn't expect him to donate himself.

The team responded with a video from several of the boys from the team and an announcement that the new kit would have the Deadpool logo added to the sleeves as a 'mark of appreciation'.

It's not the first time Ryan has hit the headlines by reaching out to fans in need.

Last year he and Rob made a joint donation of £10,000  to a fundraiser after a player's son was stillborn.

In July, Ryan also surprised a 13-year-old boy with a video message after the teenager had open-heart surgery. 

The star of comic-book movies such as Deadpool and Green Lantern made headlines last year when he bought the lowly Welsh soccer team along with fellow actor Rob in late 2020.

Their takeover and the fifth-tier team's subsequent bid for promotion was the subject of hit docuseries Welcome to Wrexham, the latest in a booming trend of behind-the-scenes sports documentaries.
