Grand County roads will be treacherous as another storm moves in Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm warning for the Winter Park area. The warning lasts from from 3 a.m. Tuesday to 11 p.m. Wednesday. The Weather Service cautions that road closures and very difficult travel conditions are expected.

According to the weather service, elevations of 9,500 feet will see total snow accumulations of 10-20 inches. This includes areas in Rabbit Ears Pass, Rocky Mountain National Park, the Medicine Bow Range, the mountains of Summit County, the Mosquito Range and the Indian Peaks Wilderness.

Other areas of Grand County, including Granby and Kremmling, are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 5 p.m. Wednesday. Snow accumulation is expected to reach around 11 inches.

“Heavier snow will last through tonight and snow is expected to taper off by midday Wednesday,” stated JP Connick of Grand County Weather on Tuesday. “A few snow showers are expected to stick around through sunset tomorrow, but the steady snow will taper off for the most part.”
