Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note: We are almost literally running out of things to say about this Jets team at this point as they just keep on winning. They picked up their 13th win in their first 14 games which makes them just the second team in NHL history to start off that red-hot (only other squad were the 2007-08 Senators). Last night it took heroics from Connor Hellebuyck who picked up the 40th shutout of his career in the process as he and his team defeated the Avs 1-0 on Thursday. Today they are scheduled to practice at 12 noon so stay tuned for the Practice Report.

Note II: The Moose were travelling yesterday as they left Manitoba for Texas where they will kick off five games on the road. They will practice today at 1 PM CST in Cedar Park as they prepare to take on the Stars tomorrow night.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Connor Hellebuyck earns 40th career shutout in 1-0 Jets win over Avs. You know that last April sits in his craw so when he had a chance to put on a show against the Avs he was certainly up to the task.

Winnipeg Sun: Jets seeing conviction in structure as wins stack up. And if all else fails let the best goalie in the NHL bail you out. Joking aside this club has definitely continued to embrace a better structure which has led to success we’ve never seen before with this type of stretch.

Winnipeg Free Press: Hellebuyck’s second consecutive shutout powers Jets past feisty Avalanche. (Paywall). The netminder is on a different level right now which is kinda insane to say given he’s won two Vezina trophy’s.

Winnipeg Free Press: Jets heap praise on unsung hero. (Paywall). You can see how much these behind the scenes folks mean to players and Al Pritchard is very important to this Jets club. Nice that they honoured him for his 1000th game.

The Denver Post: Alexandar Georgiev plays great, but Avalanche can’t solve Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck in 1-0 defeat. Read about the game from a writer that covers the Jets opponent.

Jets video:

TSN: Hellebuyck: ‘I think we’re showing that we can win every single way’. After making 35 saves for his third shutout of the season and the 40th of his career, Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck joins Sara Orlesky to describe how good the win feels, and how important securing a 1-0 victory over the Avalanche is for the club.

TSN: Jets lock down on defence, Hellebuyck shines again as Winnipeg improves to 13-1-0. TSN Hockey analyst Kevin Sawyer joins Dan Robertson to discuss the Jets’ stout defensive effort against the Avalanche and praise the performance of Connor Hellebuyck, who made 35 saves to post back-to-back shutouts, and the 40th of his career.

TSN: Button: ‘They say Jesus saves, so does Connor Hellebuyck’. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SportsCentre to discuss another brilliant performance from Connor Hellebuyck and what’s changed for the Jets since their first round loss to the Avalanche last year.
