A windy Wednesday, then temps take a nosedive
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -
We’re now behind a cold front, and another reinforcing front will cross on Wednesday. This will lead to some of the coldest air of the season, but before that air slides in... the winds are going to ramp up. Sustained winds of 15-25 mph are expected for our Hump Day, and wind gusts could get over 30 mph. If you have any loose items outside on your property, then make sure to secure them or bring them inside before the winds increase.
By Thursday AM, the winds will be lighter & skies will remain clear... allowing much colder air to filter in behind Wednesday’s reinforcing cold front. So, make sure to bundle up before heading out the door as we start Thursday with mid-upper 30s. Frost will be possible. Highs on Thursday will reach the mid 60s (below average), then temps will again fall down into the mid-upper 30s with possible Frost. Friday afternoon will stay closer to 60 degrees as another reinforcing surge of Canadian air pays us a visit. Then, overnight into Saturday morning brings the best chance for a widespread frost. If you have tender vegetation, it’s recommended that you begin covering them Wednesday night.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK
A southerly wind will return this weekend, and temps will gradually warm up by Sunday. Saturday will remain a bit cooler than average with mid 60s for highs, but highs will flirt with 70 degrees by Sunday. It’ll be a good weekend for outdoor plans since rain isn’t expected.
Next week, will bring back above average temps in the mid-upper 70s. Rain chances will also return early next week as a cold front moves back into our region. Until then, you can leave the umbrella at home.
