Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring, Environment Canada said issuing a wind warning for parts of Saskatchewan on Friday around 3 p.m.
The warning is in effect for 110 communities in central and southeast Saskatchewan.
“A fast-moving Alberta clipper will give severe westerly or northwesterly wind gusts to portions of southern Saskatchewan and southwestern Manitoba on Saturday afternoon. Sustained winds of 60 to 70 km/h with gusts of 90 to 100 km/h will be possible by mid-day Saturday persisting into the afternoon and early evening,” the alert says.
“The winds will ease later on Saturday evening.
“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Utility outages may occur.”
