The Christmas season has arrived in Newmarket and with it will come some holiday closures.
Christmas Day and Boxing Day are statutory holidays in Ontario. Here’s what’s open and closed for the next few days:
Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24) What’s Open:The Magna Fitness Centre will be open until 2 p.m.
The Newmarket Public Library is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Malls and shopping centres in the region will close early, including Upper Canada Mall (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Vaughan Mills (9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Tanger Outlets (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and Hillcrest Mall (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
Pharmacies remain open, including Shoppers Drug Mart at Yonge and Savage (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Yonge and Davis (8 a.m. to midnight), and 404 Town Centre (8 a.m. to midnight).
LCBO stores close at 6 p.m. Beer Stores in Newmarket and Aurora are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Most grocery stores are open until 6 p.m., including Dickie's No Frills on Leslie (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and John's No Frills on Davis (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Metro at Yonge and Mulock (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and Metro at Davis (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Transit services, including GO Transit and York Region Transit, are running their regular service.
Mercedes-Benz Skating Feature at Riverwalk Commons will remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.
What’s closed:Newmarket’s municipal office closed early at noon.
The Recreation Youth Centre and telMax Indoor Skate Park is closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The Newmarket Seniors’ Meeting Place will also be closed, reopening Dec. 27.
The Ray Twinney Recreation Complex is closed reopening Dec. 27.
The Magna Centre is open but closing early at 2 p.m.
Municipal customer service kiosks throughout town are also closed.
Christmas Day (Wednesday, Dec. 25) What’s open:Some pharmacies, including Shoppers Drug Mart at Yonge and Savage (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Yonge and Davis (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and 404 Town Centre (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

York Region Transit will be running a Sunday/holiday service.

What’s closed:Most businesses, retail stores, including malls, grocery stores, and banks.
Government services will be closed, including Canada Post, with no collection or delivery of mail.
All Town of Newmarket facilities will be closed, including the Magna Centre.
LCBO and Beer Stores will also be closed.
