It can be difficult to know how to spend Christmas Day and the first night of Hanukkah in the Metro Vancouver area when many businesses and public spaces are closed for the holidays. Fortunately, 1130 NewsRadio has assembled a short list of what’s open and what’s closed on Dec. 25.

Malls:

The Pacific Centre in downtown Vancouver is open, but Burnaby’s Amazing Brentwood, and Metrotown, and Surrey’s Guildford Town Centre are closed.

Groceries:

Save-On-Foods, Safeway, and Whole Foods are all closed. But some 7/Eleven locations, and independent convenience stores are open.

Liquor:

Most BCLiquor stores closed too, but your favourite private liquor store may be open.

Entertainment:

Most movie theatres are open. New in theatres is “A Complete Unknown,” the new Bob Dylan biopic, starring Timothee Chalamet in the title role.
Also new today are Babygirl, The Fire Inside, and Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu.

Other things to do include the Vancouver Lookout, which is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; the Vancouver Aquarium, which is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and the Robson Square skating rink, which is open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Parks:

If your plans included a visit to Stanley Park, you’re sadly out of luck. Stanley Park is closed Wednesday because of an incoming storm. The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation says the high winds and heavy rain have increased tree-related hazards. The board adds that due to the hemlock looper outbreak, many trees are vulnerable.
