West Ham vs Arsenal score, result, highlights as rampant hosts ...
West Ham United reached the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup by beating Arsenal for the first time in almost five years with a commanding victory at London Stadium.
Ben White headed into his own net under little pressure to give the Hammers an early lead, although goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale - making his first start in more than a month - complained he had been impeded in the absence of VAR technology for the tie.
The Hammers did not have a shot during the first half but swiftly made up for their lack of threat after the break, Ramsdale saving from Jarrod Bowen within seconds of the restart before Mohammed Kudus and Bowen struck.

West Ham vs Arsenal live updates, highlights, commentary89 mins: West Ham 3-0 Arsenal
West Ham are closing in on their first win in nine meetings with Arsenal. Should Mikel Arteta have picked a stronger side? How concerned will he be at not having to play in another competition?
86 mins: West Ham 3-0 Arsenal
Bukayo Saka, typically, has been involved in two promising moves for Arsenal, who must increasingly sense this is not to be their night.
They win a corner on the left. West Ham partially clear. Substitute Martin Odegaard sends in a dipping shot from distance, and Lukasz Fabianski gathers at the second attempt.
83 mins: West Ham 3-0 Arsenal
Declan Rice fluffs his lines again. A mocking cheers goes up around most of the stadium.
82 mins: West Ham 3-0 Arsenal
James Ward-Prowse enters the fray on his 29th birthday. Jarrod Bowen fires in a corner, Arsenal clear, and Lucas Paqueta then tries an outrageous flick with the ball at his feet, demonstrating how much West Ham are enjoying this.

Mohammed Kudus rampages forward and sees a shot deflected behind. West Ham are after a fourth.

67 mins: West Ham 3-0 Arsenal
Arsenal waste a corner. Then Declan Rice plays a pass out of play when the midfielder was trying to find fellow substitute Bukayo Saka.
You can probably imagine how the fans of Rice's former club responded to that.
64 mins: West Ham 3-0 Arsenal
A reminder that West Ham didn't have a shot during the first half. What a turnaround this has been.
61 mins: West Ham 3-0 Arsenal
Is this curtains for Arsenal's Carabao Cup campaign?
Ben White heads a cross clear to the edge of the penalty area, where Jarrod Bowen has a crack at goal. The nick the shot takes off Jakub Kiwior is enough to wrong-foot Aaron Ramsdale, diverting the ball past the grounded goalkeeper, who looks suitably frustrated as he digests what's happened.
West Ham are cruising!

West Ham deservedly have a third!
57 mins: West Ham 2-0 Arsenal
Arsenal record signing Declan Rice - a £105m arrival from West Ham during the summer - comes on. The reception he receives sounds mixed.
Not the comeback he would have wanted, as matters stand.

51 mins: West Ham 2-0 Arsenal
Nayef Aguerd raked a diagonal pass into the penalty area from the halfway line for that goal.
Mohammed Kudus brought the delivery down dead with his first touch, cutting inside to deceive Oleksandr Zinchenko before firing a precise low drive into the far corner of the net and through the legs of Gabriel.
Superb work by the new signing!
50 mins: GOAL – West Ham 2-0 Arsenal (Mohammed Kudus)
Exceptional touch, almost matched by the finish. West Ham double their lead!

The hosts have made a decent start to the half. They look like they've been told the best form of defence is attack.
Could an end to their eight-game winless run in this fixture be in the offing?
46 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
West Ham immediately have their first attempt on target of the night – and it's a good one!
Lucas Paqueta surges through the middle and releases Jarrod Bowen inside the penalty area on the right. The forward applies the finish from close range but the advancing Aaron Ramsdale makes a magnificent save, pawing the ball with an outstretched arm.
Ben White hooks behind. Arsenal escape!
Halftime: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
West Ham lead at the break despite having no attempts at goal! Ben White's blundering header makes the difference, and contrary to what you may have read on this blog earlier, it appears that Aaron Ramsdale was being impeded by Tomas Soucek when that corner that led to Arsenal going behind went in.
There's no VAR tonight, though.
45 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
There will be two added minutes. Oleksandr Zinchenko unsuccessfully tries to find Eddie Nketiah in space.
44 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
Arsenal have had 68% of possession, all eight attempts at goal and the only one on target.
West Ham had Ben White's generosity to call upon, though.
41 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
The TV cameras are focusing on Arsenal's enviably high-quality bench.
Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice are among the options, should the Gunners want to use them. Whether manager Mikel Arteta would want to, with a Premier League trip to Newcastle three days away, is questionable.
38 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
Leandro Trossard collects possession midway inside West Ham territory on the left flank and uses the outside of his boot to spin a pass to Oleksandr Zinchenko inside the penalty area, who lifts a first-time ball onto Eddie Nketiah's run at the near post.
The hat-trick man from Saturday's 5-0 hammering of Sheffield United is far less lethal this time. No need for Lukasz Fabianski to make a save.

Fabio Vieira takes a corner from the right for Arsenal. Kai Havertz flicks it down into the turf and up from the edge of the six-yard box, but no-one can apply a finishing touch as it bounces wide of the far post.
West Ham will be happy with the way the flow of play is going. They've not been ruffled since taking the lead.
30 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
Arsenal fans sing "England's, England's number one" to Aaron Ramsdale, who's back in goal tonight after being out of favour for more than a month.
West Ham's faithful respond by taunting Ramsdale as he takes a goal-kick.
28 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
West Ham manager David Moyes wasn't happy with something after that corner, too. He was having a word with the fourth official – possibly to protest against Arsenal's arguments that Aaron Ramsdale had been unfairly challenged.
27 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
Arsenal aren't happy with Tomas Soucek and Nayef Aguerd's physicality as they challenge Aaron Ramsdale in the air at the far post following a West Ham corner from the same right-hand side from which they scored.
The unlikely figure of defender Konstantinos Mavropanos won the corner, the former Arsenal player cantering well out of what you presume is his comfort zone on the right.
25 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
Arsenal have had one or two chances, including a sight of goal for Ben White inside the penalty area. They haven't really come much closer to scoring, though.
22 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
Here's that Ben White own-goal.

Arsenal mount a decent response to going one behind, creating two moments of concern inside the West Ham penalty area.
There's no end product, but that goal hasn't given the hosts the momentum.
17 mins: West Ham 1-0 Arsenal
Hard to explain that goal, especially if you're Ben White or an Arsenal fan.
Gabriel did well to intervene and nod a dangerous cross behind initially after Oleksandr Zinchenko didn't track his man inside the box.
Jarrod Bowen fired a useful but not-overwhelmingly-dangerous corner into the six-yard box from the right, where defender White, who was in space and not under a great deal of pressure, glanced a header straight past Aaron Ramsdale.
The goalkeeper felt he had been impeded. He was being challenged, but it likely wouldn't have made much difference if he had been left alone, such was the speed and short distance from goal of White's header.
One for the bloopers reel!
16 mins: GOAL – West Ham 1-0 Arsenal (Ben White own-goal)
Aaron Ramsdale is protesting but Arsenal have the lead after Ben White loses his bearings!
15 mins: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal
Arsenal defend a long throw-in well. Then Said Benrahma tracks back diligently to ward off trouble at the other end.
12 mins: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal
The game has quietened down somewhat since Kai Havertz went close with that header a few minutes ago. It's been an exciting start at London Stadium, though.
9 mins: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal
First atttempt on target – and a great save!
Reiss Nelson fizzes a dangerous inswinger into the six-yard box from that freekick on the left for Arsenal. Kai Havertz glances it cleverly on towards the far roof of Lukasz Fabianski's net, and the goalkeeper does well to react quickly and tip the effort over the crossbar!
7 mins: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal
Arsenal are having more of the ball inside the opposition half now. Edson Alvarez is dispossessed and concedes a freekick in a crossable position on Arsenal's left, fouling Kai Havertz.
4 mins: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal
First half-chance for West Ham, who break well on the right. Mohammed Kudus sends Lucas Paqueta away inside the channel, but the Brazilian's low pass, attempting to find Jarrod Bowen's run in front of goal, is overhit.
1 min: West Ham 0-0 Arsenal
"Champions of Europe, you'll never sing that," announce a multitude of West Ham fans in the stands.
Declan Rice, who helped them win that Europa Conference League title last season, is on the bench for Arsenal.
10 mins to kickoff: Arsenal will be wearing their eye-catching away kit tonight. Describing it is tricky, but the club say: flowing over a bright yellow background, black meandering graphics suggest the continuous motion of supporters in N7 on match days.
West Ham's colours are a bit more straightforward: their usuaul claret and blue.

West Ham (4-2-3-1): Fabianski (GK) – Coufal, Mavropanos, Aguerd, Emerson – Alvarez, Soucek – Kudus, Paqueta, Benrahma – Bowen
1 hour to kickoff: West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse turns 29 today, and Arsenal expert Adrian Clarke has listed two reasons why he's a gift for his club: no individual has created more chances from dead balls (16), and the team’s XG from set plays is the second-highest in the division as a result.
We'll find out soon whether the former Southampton creator will be involved tonight.
1 hour 20 mins to kickoff: A good omen for West Ham: they beat current champions Manchester City 3-1 in the top flight on this day 30 years ago, with David Burrows, Matt Holmes and Lee Chapman scoring.
Retrotastic!
On this day in 1993 West Ham beat Manchester City 3-1 at Upton Park in front of 16,605.

1 hour 40 mins to kickoff: Unsurprisingly, it sounds like Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is going to rotate his side tonight.
“It’s critical for them to show what they can do when it’s really important and they are given a chance and a moment when they are in or out," he said of his fringe players.
"How are you going to approach that game and are you going to win for the team? If you want to grow as a team and you don’t have that mindset, it’s very difficult.
“The mindset of every three days being able to do it in different ways, when you have a big game next to it or when you just played in the Champions League – what’s the behaviour of the team? How the team responds to that is very important.”
2 hours to kickoff: Hello and welcome to The Sporting News' live coverage of tonight's Carabao Cup tie between West Ham and Arsenal. The visitors' record signing, Declan Rice, could feature against the club with whom he won the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, but his former boss, David Moyes, wouldn't necessarily welcome that.
"He was a brilliant member of the team, led [us] well and conducted himself impeccably as a West Ham captain," Moyes said in the build-up to this one. "This is the man who lifted the first European trophy in 58 years at West Ham United, so he should be welcomed back with open arms.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing Dec. I don't know if I really want him to play, but I really hope he's there."
