Taylor Swift won video of the year, Sabrina Carpenter took home the Moon Person for song of the year, and Chappell Roan was named best new artist the 2024 show.

Taylor Swift topped the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, winning seven awards, including video of the year for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone.

Sabrina Carpenter took home the Moon Person for song of the year, and Chappell Roan was named best new artist the 2024 show.

SZA, Eminem, Lenny Kravitz, Blackpink’s Lisa and Tyla were among the other winners. Heading into the show, Taylor Swift led the nominees with a total of 12 noms. Winners are voted on by fans.

Megan Thee Stallion hosted the show, which aired live from New York’s UBS Arena. She also performed during the 2024 VMAs.

Katy Perry received this year’s Video Vanguard Award and performed a medley of her hits. Other performers included Anitta (featuring Fat Joe, DJ Khaled and Tiago PZK), Eminem, LL Cool J, Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz (with Quavo and Doechii), Karol G, Blackpink’s Lisa, Rauw Alejandro, Shawn Mendes and Sabrina Carpenter. In observance of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, MTV supported the nonprofit 9/11 Day, which organizes the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, and Tuesday’s Children, which serves the families of 9/11.

The VMAs were executive produced by Bruce Gillmer and Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic, with Barb Bialkowski as co-executive producer. Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba are executives in charge of production, Wendy Plaut is executive in charge of celebrity talent, and Lisa Lauricella is music talent executive.

The show aired live on BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV, MTV2, Nick at Nite, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, VH1 and Univision.
