The Nuggets star was just as mesmerized as everybody else by the San Antonio rookie's performance on Tuesday night.
Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic got the best of his matchup with San Antonio Spurs standout rookie Victor Wembanyama on Tuesday night, despite Wembanyama nearly logging a rarely-seen quadruple double.
Jokic and the Nuggets narrowly escaped the 18-win Spurs in a 110-105 home victory. Jokic finished with 42 points, 16 rebounds and six assists, while Wembanyama posted a ridiculous 23 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists and nine blocks.
One of the highlight plays of the game was a dunk that Jokic had over Wembanyama in transition, that led to the Nuggets star talking a bit of trash to the rookie on his way back up the floor.

This is far from the last we'll see this matchup between Jokic, who has established himself as the league's most dominant player, and Wembanyama, who is performing at an unprecedented level as a rookie for San Antonio.
There's a clear appreciation that Jokic has for the 20-year-old Wembanyama's game. NBA fans will certainly be clamoring for more opportunities to watch this matchup for years to come.
