Alfred Victor Mitchell, 61, of Moosonee, Ontario, peacefully passed away at home on June 10th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. With the heart of a warrior, he bravely battled cancer for over a year, until it was finally time to rest.
Victor was born on April 8th, 1963, to Laura and Alfred Mitchell in Moose Factory, Ontario. He was the oldest and had five sisters and one brother. His family was one of the most important things to him throughout his entire life, and he spent as much time as he could with his siblings, all the way until the end. He married Sandra on June 24, 1995, and they had four children, Ashley, Jordan, Eryn and Brennan, whom he was always so proud of. His grandchildren, Kessel, Logan, Luna and Isla were the light of his life, and his pride and joy.
He was very proud of his time in the army and often talked about his adventures. Afterward, he returned to Moosonee, and started working. He worked many jobs throughout the years, most of which were centered around giving back to his community in some way. He was passionate about helping others, and believed in doing things out of the goodness of one’s heart.
Victor is survived by children, Ashley (Joseph), Jordan (Megan), Eryn (Mason) and Brennan (Amanda), beloved grandchildren Kessel, and Isla and his Grand-twins, Logan, and Luna. Siblings Madeline (Ron), Monique (Gordon), Mildred, Nellie (Richard), Cynthia and Steven (Frances), honorary sister Marilyn(Rick), along with his nephews and nieces Russell Mitchell, Darryl Mitchell, Christiana Rheault (Albert), Nicole Rheault, Chantal Rheault (Dalton), Lori Mitchell (Russell), Jennifer Mitchell, Ronald Nesrallah, Jamie Nesrallah (Peter), Gordon Jr. Nesrallah, Charlene Edwards (Chris), Justin Sutherland (Samantha), Nathan Sutherland, Terry Sutherland, Brandon Sutherland, Blaire Westberry (Billy), Brent Kube, Travis Kube, and Priscila Proulx (Chris), and cousin Stan Loone. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, many cousins, grand nieces and nephews, and friends. It seemed like he knew everyone, and his loss will be felt by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents Laura and Alfred Mitchell, nephew Preston Proulx, and brothers-in-law Hubert Sutherland and Daniel Proulx.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday June 15 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Moosonee.

Pallbearers will be sons Jordan Glenesk and Brennan Mitchell, son-in-law Mason Cheechoo, brother Steven Mitchell, cousin Stan Loone and nephew Justin Sutherland.
