The Monday commute has been a rocky one for TTC riders as subway service remains shut down on a portion of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth following a hydraulic oil spill.

Around 7 a.m., trains stopped running between St. George and Broadview stations. Shuttle buses are operating.

A TTC spokesperson told 680 NewsRadio Toronto that shuttle buses are also in place between Broadview and Woodbine stations as a crowd control measure. Trains are running through that stretch.

The TTC said a work car leaked the oil on the tracks between Bloor-Yonge and Sherbourne stations overnight, causing “slippery track conditions” at the start of the morning rush.

“Service is temporarily suspended for safety reasons in this area while we investigate and remedy,” it stated in a post on X.

The TTC said crews are in the final stages of cleaning up the spill but there is no word on when subway service will resume.

Officials say riders can take GO Transit from Main to Union stations for the price of a TTC fare. Additional streetcars are also running on the 504 King and 505 Dundas routes.
