The TTC says there is no subway service on a portion of Line 2 between Kipling Station to Jane Station after a track level fire and it “could be a couple days” before service fully resumes.
TTC said on X there was a track-level fire at Islington Station on Thursday afternoon.
Shuttle buses are running between the stations as the TTC makes repairs.
Delays are expected Friday at Kipling Station, Islington Station, Royal York Station, Old Mill Station and Jane Station, the TTC said.
TTC spokesperson Stuart Green told 640 Toronto’s Greg Brady that it “could be a couple days” before subway service resumes.
“We’re hoping that we’re able to shorten that service outage. Hopefully, getting it between say Islington and Kipling only,” Green said, adding the closure of Kipling to Jane could last well into Saturday.

“Our next marker would be to try and shorten that closure so it’s not all the way from Kipling to Jane. It might just be Kipling to Islington for example. That’s what we’re working on now,” Green said.
“Full reopening , we’re looking at best case a day or two,” he said.
TTC said service east of Jane Station is not affected.
“Longer travel times anticipated on Line 2 west end; consider GO Transit from Kipling to Union or UP Express for airport travel,” TTC said on X.
