Shannon Sharpe says a halftime altercation started with Dillon Brooks when NFL Hall of Famer said the Grizzlies player was too small to guard LeBron James.

Right after the second-quarter buzzer sounded in the Lakers-Grizzlies game on Friday night, Ja Morant's father, Tee Morant, and a couple of Memphis players got into a shouting match with NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, who was sitting courtside.

Referees and security had to intervene to cool off the conflict.

The current Fox Sports commentator Sharpe was escorted by security through the tunnel to a back hallway of the Crypto.com Arena, where he stayed for halftime before returning to his seat for the third quarter.

"They didn't want this smoke, Dave," Sharpe gave a quick interview to ESPN's Dave McMenamin before the second half started. "They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain't about that jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. He said, 'F' me. I said, 'F' you back.

He started to come at me and I said, 'You don't want these problems.' And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn't want these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn't want no problems.

"But I wanted anything they had. Don't let these fools fool you now."

Cameras later showed Sharpe and Tee Morant shaking hands and hugging before the start of the second half.

Los Angeles ended up winning the game over Memphis, 122-121.
