An advisory from the City of Vancouver warns roads and plazas around concert venue B.C. Place will be restricted to those with tickets, and anyone hoping to “Tay-Gate” will be out of luck if they try to access the area.

It encourages those trying to get to the stadium to walk, bike, roll or take transit, and to plan for significant delays and major congestion, especially near B.C. Place, Rogers Arena and Concord Pacific Place.

BCPlace.com

The following roads around the stadium will be closed from noon to midnight all three days:

• 700 and 800 blocks of Beatty Street between Smithe and West Georgia streets • Pacific Boulevard from the Cambie Bridge off-ramp to Pat Quinn Way • Northbound Cambie Bridge off-ramp • 100 block of Robson Street between Cambie Street and Beatty Street

These areas will be restricted to drivers, taxis and ride-shares dropping off passengers, with a three-minute stopping maximum in effect:

• Cambie and Hamilton streets from Smithe to West Georgia streets • Pacific Boulevard between Pat Quinn Way and Quebec Street

Pay attention to all detours and temporary no-parking signs. To check on all Vancouver road closures before you travel, check the map at vancouver.ca.

Taking transit is recommended, and TransLink is boosting service on all three concert dates, including a special West Coast Express train on Saturday that will run at midnight. B.C. Place is a five-minute walk from Stadium-Chinatown Station on the SkyTrain Expo Line, and 15 minutes from Vancouver City Centre Station on the Canada Line.

Buses are likely to be rerouted and longer than usual waits are anticipated due to congestion and closures. To keep up to date on disruptions and changes, sign up for alerts at translink.ca/alerts.

For visitors to Vancouver, the easiest way to pay for transit is with a contactless credit or debit card. Compass cards (with a $6 refundable deposit) and Compass tickets are also available at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations. A DayPass is recommended for unlimited travel that day, or make sure to pre-purchase your return ticket to avoid long lineups after the show.

While SkyTrains arrive as often as every 90 seconds, expect a crush of people leaving the stadium at the same time and prepare to wait. The weather is expected to be cool with some rain, so dress warmly.

Those who want to take their car to a transit hub should check for a location at translink.ca/parkandride.

TransLink has several Swift-specific blog posts and a video about how to take transit to the shows at translink.ca. For customer service (from 6 a.m. till midnight on concert dates), call the transit agency at 604-953-3333.

Bike parking stations, including docks for Mobi riders, will be available near B.C. Place at Dunsmuir and Beatty, Expo and Smithe and Carrall and seawall.

Cyclists with their own ride who want to take transit into downtown can drop them at one of TransLink’s bike parkades around town.

Street access to hotels and homes in the immediate area will be limited to hotel guests and residents.

Those with tickets should enter through the gate on their mobile ticket. Note that if you downloaded it to a mobile device before Nov. 16, you should repeat the download to make sure you have the latest information. Visit bcplace.com for details on bag restrictions and prohibited items.
