The Supervive player count beats its previous record in just 24 hours

Steam Next Fest’s Supervive player count was nothing to smirk at. Marking the MOBA’s 24/7 debut, Theorycraft’s colorful new brawler pulled in almost 17k people, with players apparently playing over 67 million minutes (or 127 years) during that week alone. As League of Legends winds down for the year and traditional battle royales like Apex Legends struggle, Supervive has returned with its new open beta, and it’s been a triumphant showing so far.

In the 24 hours that the Supervive open beta has been live, it’s already beaten out its Steam Next Fest peak. Back in October, the MOBA‘s player count spiked at 16,887 concurrents, with a 24-hour peak of 15,001. Not half bad for an indie title.

Since Wednesday November 21 however, 29,746 players have dropped into Supervive, with 10,751 currently in-game at the time of writing. That’s not quite double the original peak, but again, it’s only been 24 hours. With the weekend coming up, I expect that number to grow exponentially.

There are probably a few reasons for this. The largest is, of course, that there’s nothing quite like Supervive on the market. It blends the frenetic, top-down action of League with the brawling of Super Smash Bros and storm mechanics of battle royale games like Apex or Fortnite. It’s colorful, exciting, and has become a social media hit as a result of clever marketing.

Not a day goes by when I don’t see top-tier streamers like Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont or Tyler ‘Tyler1’ Steinkamp trying out Supervive, and the recent creator cup brought even more eyes to an already flourishing game. As someone who loves those OG LoL streamers and esports zoomers, their involvement is bound to have spurred on wider interest.

Speaking of T1, though, when the Supervive release date rolls around you’ll be able to pick up a series of animated Tyler1 emotes, with all of the money going towards the creators themselves. In the meantime, however, we have a rundown of what’s new with the open beta right here.
