Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for Southern Alberta

Southern Alberta is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch on Friday, August 23.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail.

Storms have developed in states like Montana, Idaho and Minnesota, and they say they are carrying north into Western Canada. Environment Canada says when the storms cross the U.S. border early this evening, some of them will likely be severe.

Environment Canada is reminding residents that “When thunder roars, go indoors.”
