Severe thunderstorm activity, notably near the international border, is expected to develop late this afternoon or during the evening hours.

SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued Tuesday morning for most of southern Saskatchewan.

According to the advisory, issued by Environment Canada, severe thunderstorm activity, notably near the international border, is expected to develop late this afternoon or during the evening hours.

"These storms are expected to move northwards during the late evening time period and may very well persist into the overnight hours across much of the south," the advisory states. 

The watch covers Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn, Assiniboia, Swift Current, Maple Creek, Shaunavon and other areas. Across the province, a total of 133 RMs - and the communities within those RMs - are affected.
