Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Windsor-Essex

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Windsor-Essex.

At 3:50 p.m., Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 20 kilometres west of LaSalle to 55 kilometres southwest of Colchester, moving east at 55 km/h.

Hazards: Up to 90 km/h wind gusts possible. Nickel size hail.

Locations impacted include: Windsor, Leamington, Amherstburg, Tecumseh, Kingsville, Belle River, Lakeshore, LaSalle, South Windsor, McGregor, Windsor Airport, Colchester, Harrow, Maidstone, Essex, Cottam and Pelee Island.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
