Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris left Tuesday’s game against the Calgary Flames late in the third period with an apparent upper-body injury after an awkward collision.

With just over four minutes remaining in the third period, Norris, heading in on the forecheck, stumbled over the Flames’ Elias Lindholm, causing him to cartwheel in the air, appearing to land on his head.

He remained down on the ice, clutching his head as teammate Brady Tkachuk immediately called for training staff. Norris was eventually able to skate off the ice on his own.

Norris, 24, missed nearly the entire 2022-23 season with a shoulder injury. Poised to return for the start of this season, he suffered a setback ahead of training camp, forcing him to miss the first three games of the season.

A 35-goal scorer his last full season (2021-22), Norris has struggled as of late to find the back of the net, going pointless in his last six games. He has 12 goals and 20 points in 32 games this season.

Norris was selected 19th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks, but was traded to Ottawa as part of the package that sent Erik Karlsson to the Sharks.
