New Delhi,UPDATED: Jun 27, 2024 06:03 IST

Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan has said that his side is pumped for the semi-final 1 against South Africa, despite having less sleep and a 4-hour flight delay ahead of the clash in Trinidad. Afghanistan had a quick turnaround as they played Bangladesh on June 25 in St. Vincent and had to head to the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. As compared to them, South Africa had an extra day as they faced West Indies on June 24.

However, Rashid said that the team is all set for the game after he won the toss on the day. Afghanistan opted to bat first in Trinidad and Rashid said they wanted to put a good total on the board as it was a fresh wicket. Rashid said that the middle order hasn't got a lot of time in the middle and it was a concern.

Rashid said that the fact they haven't had much rest won't be a factor and they would have to be at their best to win the match on Thursday.

"We would like to bat first, it's a fresh wicket and we will like to have a good total on the board. The middle-order hasn't got much time in the middle, they have to come out in the 15-16th over and it's not easy. It's good that the top-order has taken responsibility and they have batted very well. When you have a 4-hour delay flight, it's not easy. Doesn't matter if you sleep 1 hour, you have to be at your best. We are going with the same lineup," said Rashid Khan.

Both teams decided to go with the same lineups from their last game.
