Live scores, updates and highlights from the final round of the 106th PGA Championship

LOUISVILLE -- Only 18 holes separate one player from raising the Wanamaker Trophy at the 2024 PGA Championship. Who will ultimately claim the second major championship of the season remains a mystery as a star-studded leaderboard enters the final round at Valhalla Golf Club.

Xander Schauffele's name remains atop the leaderboard for the third straight day, but he has since been joined at pole position by Collin Morikawa. The two-time major champion was nearly flawless on Moving Day to catch Schauffele, who is seeking his first career major in a breakthrough moment. They are hardly the only names in this equation, though, as Sahith Theegala, Bryson DeChambeau, Viktor Hovland and Shane Lowry (who matched a major record with a 62 in the third round) are hotly in pursuit. Justin Thomas and Tony Finau could make a run if everything goes right for them, while Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy are further back but will nevertheless give it the ol' college try.

  Xander gets to 20 under

He has taken the lead back. He is taking punches and throwing them right back. After the poor bogey on 10, Schauffele has rattled off two straight birdies and has a chance to add another on the short par-4 13th.

      Three-horse race

It is Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele at 19 under with Schauffele having more runway out in front of him including a 7-foot birdie look on No. 12 after a pearl of a 7 iron. Hovland gets through the tough 14th as does Bryson DeChambeau at 18 under. They will need to pick some up before the par-5 18th with how Schauffele is striking his irons.

            Viktor Hovland. Solo leader.

The Norwegian is alone atop the leaderboard for the moment. He rolls in another one from 15 feet on the par-4 13th and gets to 19 under. That's his sixth birdie in his last nine holes and he is one clear of Xander Schauffele who has 8 feet for birdie on No. 11 and Bryson DeChambeau who matched Hovland's birdie on 13.

        That is costly!

WOW!

I did not see that coming. Xander Schauffele makes 6 on the par-5 10th and has lost his lead completely. He is now 18 under and tied with Viktor Hovland who will have a good chance to make birdie on the easy par-4 13th from the middle of the fairway. Bryson DeChambeau is suddenly just one back and Justin Rose is two adrift with a pulse!

      Hovland birdies the 12th

He just hit a gem into that tucked pin. Hovland attacks the hole on No. 12 and pays it off knocking his 7-foot birdie attempt in the bottom of the cup. He gets to 18 under and one behind Xander Schauffele who is still not on the green on the par-5 10th (likely will make par). It's Xander, Hovland and DeChambeau coming down the homestretch.

          Wow, wow, wow

Xander Schauffele is surging past the rest of them right now. He lands another birdie from 10 feet on the par-4 9th and will turn with a two-stroke lead after going out in 31. He heads to the par-5 10th where he will have a very good chance to extend his lead to three. The time is now for him.

Bryson just misses chance to tie lead

6 iron. 243 yards. Barking at it like the dog he is, DeChambeau's second into the par-5 10th settled just about 20 feet from the pin. He is unable to convert the big bird, but he does tack on a birdie to get within one of Xander Schauffele. Viktor Hovland cards a 4 as well to join DeChambeau directly in the rearview. This is possibly turning into a 3-horse race as Collin Morikawa has started his round with eight straight pars.

        Xander stretches his lead

The margin is now two. Xander Schauffele converts from 11 feet for another birdie and reaches 18 under in the process. The putter has been cooperating and has him 3 under through his first seven holes. Collin Morikawa, meanwhile, misses from 5 feet meaning Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland are the closest to the lead.
