WASHINGTON (TND) — Vice President Kamala Harris participated in a "Unite for America" livestream with Oprah Winfrey Thursday night highlighting dozens of grassroots groups backing the presidential nominee.

Winfrey previously endorsed Harris at the Democratic convention in August.

According to the event details, 140 different grassroots organizations were featured in the livestream including "Win with Black Women," White Dudes for Harris," "Out for Harris" and "Latinas for Harris."

What is essential to me is getting people motivated to vote – and that’s my intention in hosting this event," Oprah Winfrey stated in a news release. "My goal is to get people excited about the privilege and power of the vote.

Organizers said the event serves as a call to action to work in communities throughout battleground states to register people to vote and build support in advance of Nov. 5.

The event was streamed on Oprah's YouTubebeginning at 8 p.m. ET.

Thursday's campaign stops follow the Federal Reserve cutting its benchmark interest rate by an unusually large half-point. That marked a dramatic shift after more than two years of high rates that helped tame inflation but also made borrowing painfully expensive for American consumers.

The presidential election is less than seven weeks away.
