Will Airdrie's mild start to November last? Here's what's coming

Winter is only 50 days away, and Airdrie's forecast for the first week of November is not showing any hint of snow, but that may change.

According to the Farmer's Almanac, this month will bring chilly and unsettled weather.

"The Prairies will feel more winter-like, with very cold temperatures likely," the almanac predicts.

Notable weather dates include the week of November 8-11, when heavy snowfall could hit the Prairies and Quebec, followed by frigid conditions. 

Here's a breakdown of what the almanac is predicting this month:  

1st-3rd: Rain and snow (over higher elevations) in the Rockies. 4th-7th: Rain spreads east from the Prairies, followed by clear, frosty conditions. 8th-11th: A major storm brings heavy snow (30-60 centimetres) from British Columbia across the Rockies and Prairies, followed by very cold air. 12th-15th: Partly cloudy and unseasonably cold. 16th-19th: Another quick storm brings more snow from British Columbia. 20th-23rd: A warm-cold air clash brings rain and thunderstorms, especially near the Rockies. 24th-27th: Cold winds bring dry weather across the Rockies and Prairies. 28th-30th: Widespread rain and snow, with a strong push of very cold air southward.

However, Environment and Climate Change Canada's local forecasts for Airdrie may disagree, as the next several days may see daytime temperatures hovering between one and 11 degrees while nighttime lows will be between -10 and one degrees.
