In addition to the regular season kicking off with a pair of games between the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils in Prague, Czechia, on Oct. 4 and 5, the league revealed that Opening Night will take place Oct. 8.

Opening Night will feature a tripleheader of games with the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers hosting the Boston Bruins, the St. Louis Blues going to Seattle to take on the Kraken, and the Utah Hockey Club hosting their first-ever NHL regular-season game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Also, as previously announced, the NHL season will pause from Feb. 10-21, 2025, but rather than the traditional All-Star Game festivities, the league is putting on the 4 Nations Face-Off, which will feature the best players from the United States, Canada, Sweden and Finland competing in a round-robin tournament.

Arguably the biggest and most highly anticipated game of the regular season will occur on Dec. 31 when the Blackhawks host the Blues in the Winter Classic outdoor extravaganza at the Chicago Cubs' Wrigley Field.

Another outdoor game will take place on March 1 as well when the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings clash in the Stadium Series at Ohio State University's Ohio Stadium.

In terms of major rematches from last season, the Panthers and Edmonton Oilers will meet twice and reprise the rivalry they formed during the 2024 Stanley Cup Final, which went seven games.

The Oilers will be the home team on Dec. 16, while Florida will welcome Edmonton to its barn on Feb. 27.

Also, Oct. 14 will mark the start of a new partnership for the NHL, as the Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins will face off in the first edition of Prime Monday Night Hockey on Prime Video.

All told, 1,312 total regular-season games will be played next season, and the regular season will come to a close on April 17.
