Community-Wide Garage Sale begins in Ponoka today

Ponoka and area residents are invited to treasure hunt this weekend, during Ponoka’s Community-Wide Garage Sale.
The event is a chance for residents and visitors to find something special while exploring garage sales throughout the community.
“People can expect dozens of garage sales scattered throughout our community,” said Andrew Jones, Manager of Parks, Recreation and Facilities. “It's a great chance for people to find hidden treasures throughout all of Ponoka and also check out all the other great things that Ponoka has to offer.”
This year, there are nearly 30 homes registered for the sale, with more expected to participate throughout the weekend.
“We've already seen people getting all their signs up and ready, and we have quite a few people who joined last minute too putting signs up through the community,” Jones said.
He is hopeful that Central Albertans will visit Ponoka to search for great finds.
“There's always so many great treasures to find, and people that do it know that, and they're always looking for that great find.”
Throughout the four years the event has run, it has brought the community together to hunt for hidden gems, while also attracting visitors from the surrounding areas to the community.
“It's a great opportunity for not only them to go check out all the garage sales listed, but see what Ponoka has to offer,” Jones said. “There's just so much for people to see and enjoy in Ponoka.”
A map guide is available to easily locate the garage sale sites.
Paper copies of the map are also available at the town office (200, 5604 50 Street), the Ponoka Arena Complex (4410 54 Street), and the Ponoka Aquaplex (5315 46 Avenue).
Residents who were unable to submit their garage sale in time to be included in the map, are still encouraged to participate by posting their sale date and time on the Town of Ponoka’s Facebook page.
The event runs today (July 19) until July 21.
