New Jersey inks defensemen to two-year, entry-level contract starting in 2023-24

The New Jersey Devils today signed defenseman Daniil Misyul, New Jersey's third-round draft pick, 70th overall, in the 2019 NHL Draft, to a two-year, entry-level contract starting with the 2023-24 season. The announcement was made by Executive Vice President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald.

Misyul, 22, spent parts of the last five seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Misyul skated in a career-high 59 games this season, registering seven assists, and led Lokomotiv in plus/minus at plus-21. He was also one of 12 KHL skaters who finished the 2022-23 campaign with a plus/minus rating of plus-21 or better.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound defenseman totaled 24 career points (8g-16a) in 184 career regular-season games with Lokomotiv. Misyul joined the KHL as an 18-year old, and has been a regular on Lokomotiv's team each of the last four years. Additionally, the lefthanded shot played in 21 career KHL playoff games with Lokomotiv. In 2018-19, Misyul was named KHL Rookie of the Month for March and the next season, was named KHL Rookie of the Week in October of 2019.

Born on October 20, 2000, in Minsk, Belarus, Misyul represented Russia at the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) 2018 U-18 World Junior Championship and won a Silver Medal at the 2020 WJC. Misyul also spent parts of three seasons in the MHL with Loko Yaroslavl from 2017-18 to 2020-21, where his club won the MHL Championship in 2018 and 2019. He was also a MHL All-Star in 2019.
