National Donut Day on Friday, June 2, provides us with a perfect excuse to indulge in a donut or two, as if we needed one, while also taking advantage of some great deals.

However, the origins of National Donut Day also have a philanthropic background. The Salvation Army established this day in 1938 to pay tribute to their Donut Lassies, courageous women who served donuts and other treats to soldiers in France during World War I.

Nowadays, all of us have the opportunity to celebrate and enjoy complimentary donuts (subject to availability) at major chains like Dunkin’, Krispy Kreme, and Duck Donuts, as well as numerous other donut or “doughnut” makers, depending on your preference.

Dunkin’ Donuts: Participating Dunkin’ stores across the country are giving customers the opportunity to receive a complimentary classic donut of their choosing when they purchase any beverage, while supplies last.

Krispy Kreme: Get a complimentary doughnut of your preference, such as Banana Pudding, Chocolate Kreme Pie, Key Lime Pie, or Strawberries & Kreme doughnuts, without needing to make a purchase. Additionally, if you buy any dozen doughnuts, you can get a dozen original glazed doughnuts for just $2.

The Dapper Doughnut: From June 2nd to June 4th, you can receive a complimentary six-pack of cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar donuts when you make any purchase. This offer is applicable for in-store purchases with any priced item, while online, the deal is activated with a minimum purchase of $5.

Duck Donuts: On Friday, June 2nd, you can enjoy a complimentary cinnamon sugar donut at Duck Donuts stores. There is no requirement to make a purchase in order to receive the free donut.

Honey Dew Donuts: Get a free donut with any beverage purchase on Friday, June 2.

Tim Horton’s: If you purchase any hot or iced beverage of any size through the Tim Hortons app or online at timhortons.com, you will be eligible to receive a complimentary donut on Friday.
