ROSEMONT, Ill. – Michigan has been selected to participate in the College Football Playoff semifinals and will play in the Rose Bowl. The Wolverines were ranked No. 1 by the College Football Playoff selection committee and will face No. 4 Alabama on Jan. 1 at 5 p.m. ET at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif. The College Football Playoff committee also announced that No. 2 Washington would face No. 3 Texas in the Sugar Bowl to be played on Jan. 1 at 8:45 p.m. ET at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La. The winners of the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl will meet in the College Football Playoff National Championship to be played at 7:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 8, 2023, at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Michigan returns to the Rose Bowl for the 21st time in program history and the first time since 2006. This will be Michigan’s third appearance in the College Football Playoff semifinals. The Wolverines are in search of the 12th national championship in program history, having last won the title in 1997. Michigan defeated Iowa, 26-0, in the 2023 Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 2, to improve to 13-0 overall on the season and capture its conference-leading 45th Big Ten title. At approximately 2:30 p.m. ET, the College Football Playoff selection committee will announce its final top 25 rankings of the season. In addition, the Cotton, Fiesta, Orange and Peach Bowl pairings will be announced. The full Big Ten bowl lineup will be announced on Sunday evening.
