Hill was pulled over for a minor traffic incident while entering the stadium area, and was briefly handcuffed by police, NFL Network reported.

ESPN reports Hill was stopped for alleged reckless driving and speeding, and he was handcuffed after an altercation with police, citing unnamed sources—an incident the player’s agent Drew Rosenhaus called “heartbreaking” and “mindboggling.”

“Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support,” the Dolphins said in a tweet, and all of the involved players are available to play in Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Key Background

Hill has played on the Dolphins since 2022 and played for the Kansas City Chiefs for six seasons prior to that. Hill has had legal issues in the past: In 2014, Hill was kicked off of the Oklahoma State University football team after he pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery for attacking his then-pregnant fiance, the Miami Herald reported. His conviction was expunged in 2018, but Hill was investigated again in 2019 after his three-year-old son broke his arm and child welfare investigators removed the child from Hill’s custody. The Kansas City Star reported prosecutors thought a crime was committed against the child but they couldn’t prove who did it, so no charges were brought against Hill.
