In a N.H. parking lot: the MAGA hat and the Harris-Walz T-shirt
My wife and I went to Manchester, N.H., last week to build Harris-Walz signs at the campaign headquarters. On our way out at the end of the day, I noticed a guy standing by our car in the middle of the parking lot, checking it out. He was standing near what appeared to be his car, and I didn’t notice the MAGA hat and matching red sweatshirt until we got closer. The guy nodded at me as I approached. I had forgotten that I was wearing a Harris-Walz T-shirt.
“Good luck,” he said.
“In the end, we’re all Americans,” I replied.
“Absolutely,” he said through a long draw on his cigarette. “I don’t even watch all those TV news shows anymore.”
He let out a lengthy release of smoke and stuck out his hand. I shook it.
”Good luck,” he said again.
