The Lakers’ recent momentum, which includes 12 wins in their last 18 games, will be out to the test against a talented Phoenix team. LeBron James and company have ranked second in the NBA in points per game and fourth in offense rating over the last 15 games, and they may be finally starting to figure things out.

The Suns, though, have been fifth and sixth, respectively, in those categories during the same span. They have won 14 of their last 20 contests, and that spurt has taken them from a team that was hovering around .500 to one that has a 33-24 record.

But they’re just in eighth place in the Western Conference and 2.5 games ahead of the Lakers, who are in ninth place with a 31-27 record. A win on Sunday by the Lakers would go a long way in helping them advance in the standings.

Los Angeles currently leads the season series against Phoenix three games to one.
