Toronto Metropolitan University hung in for two periods but the Lakers women scored 4 times in the third win to win 7-3

For two periods the Nipissing Lakers Women’s team had a huge shot advantage but were knotted at three versus the visiting Toronto Metropolitan University Bold.

That changed as the Lakers found the back of the net four times in the third period to win their home opener 7-3.

Late in the first the Lakers trailed 1-0 but then Abby Lunney scored at 18:04 and it was 1-1 after one.

Payton Kerr scored two power play goals for TMU but the Lakers responded to both Madison Laberge scored to make it 2-2 and then Mallory Dominico scored to make it 3-3.  Both Nipissing goals also on power plays.

Lana Duriez, Maggie McKee Madison Desmerais and Jill Hennesy scored as the Lakers, who were down 3-2 in the second went on to win 7-3.

The Lakers Men’s team lost 4-2 to Brock University on Friday night to drop to 1 and 4 on the season. Elvis Gorontzy-Slack and Charlie Johnson scored for Nipissing.
