Kate Middleton Switches It Up With a Totally Unexpected Print

15 Jun 2023

Kate Middleton may not be known for taking huge fashion risks, but that doesn't mean the princess can't surprise us once in a while. On June 15, the Princess of Wales switched it up (just a bit!) in a dress with a totally unexpected print.

For her visit to the Riversley Park Children's Centre in Nuneaton, England, Kate wore a long-sleeved shirtdress, a Princess Kate standard, with a surprisingly bold choice of pattern—bright green animal print. The breezy frock's retro-inspired design, with an A-line skirt, button front, and slightly puffed sleeves, seems to be a favorite style of Kate's and we've seen her wear similar versions of this silhouette many times. The lime-green leopard print, however, is pretty new. Though not entirely.

Kate Middleton has, in fact, worn green animal print before, if not quite as loudly. In 2022, Princess Kate stepped out in a Derek Lam shirtdress with dark green leopard print, per Marie Claire, that was a bit more understated than this dress from the brand Cefinn. For this June outing, Kate paired the animal-print with a pair of distinctly low-key white Jimmy Choo pumps, per the Telegraph.

According to People, the princess was visiting with health professionals who are taking part in a study funded by her own Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, as part of her campaign for improved early childhood development and well-being. A known baby-lover, Kate was photographed shaking the hands of schoolchildren and infants alike, as well as speaking with families.

They do say babies love looking at bright colors!
