The Toronto Raptors kicked off Night Two of the NBA Draft by picked first (technically 31st overall).

They chose Jonathan Mogbo out of the University of San Francisco, a power forward who stands at 6-foot-8, and played at four different colleges in four years before declaring for the NBA Draft. He started at two junior colleges after getting no D1 offers, before playing his junior year at Missouri State and senior year at San Francisco.

Jonathan Mogbo lit up NBA analytics models, filling up the stat sheet averaging 19.5 points, 14.2 rebounds, 5 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per-40. He is intriguing in the early 2nd round with his explosiveness, playmaking ability and defensive upside with his 7'2 wingspan. pic.twitter.com/FopjHhznyV

Coming from his hometown of West Palm Beach, Florida, Mogbo also happens to be a close personal friend of Scottie Barnes. This ultimately makes sense as the Raptors work to build a team around Barnes, and having Mogbo will definitely add to the chemistry of the team.

In his senior season, Mogbo shot 63.6% from the field and averaged 14.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He has the potential to be a good defensive player and presence in the paint as a forward. The one part of his game he will surely need to work in is his three-point shooting, though as he didn’t take any in college.

This comes shortly after the Raptors made a trade to send Jalen McDaniels to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov, and the 45th pick in tonight’s second round.
