And after staving off a first-period assault by the Winnipeg Jets, landed multiple killing blows over the final 40 minutes to even the best-of-seven Stanley Cup playoff series at 1-1, with a 5-2 win at T-Mobile Arena on Thursday night.

Winnipegger and Golden Knights captain Mark Stone scored twice and added an assist, while Jack Eichel scored his first career playoff goal to help the Golden Knights back into the series.

Chandler Stephenson broke a 2-2 deadlock in the third period, a product of lackadaisical defending in front of Connor Hellebuyck, to usher in a run of three unanswered for Vegas.

William Karlsson, before him, also scored for the Golden Knights, while Laurent Brossoit bounced back to make 31 saves for his first career playoff win.

Adam Lowry scored his third goal of the series to give the Jets a 1-0 lead after the first period, and Kevin Stenlund found the back of the net, deflecting a pass on an odd-man rush to tie the game up at 2-2 heading into the third.

Hellebuyck made 34 saves, including a ridiculous glove save early in the first period. He also took a 95-mph one-timer off the mask moments later to keep the Jets in the game.

Winnipeg stormed out of the gate in the first period, as they had in Game 1, outshooting the Golden Knights 17-8.

An extended 4-on-3 late in the period proved fruitless for the Jets, who were only left to rue the missed opportunity when Karlsson tied the game 5:54 into the second.

By then, the Jets had faded, with Vegas finally waking up in the series. As the Jets struggled with puck management, the Golden Knights were gaining momentum, with Eichel’s first of the series putting Vegas in front for the first time at 10:25.

The Jets finished 1-for-3 on the power play thanks to Lowry’s first-period effort. Winnipeg’s penalty kill, meanwhile, remained undefeated, stopping four Vegas chances in the game.

The series now shifts to Winnipeg and Canada Life Centre for Game 3, a 3 p.m. start on Saturday.

Game four is slated for Monday night, with puck drop at 8:30 p.m. CT.
