Long-time hockey radio and television personality Jeff Marek is no longer at Canadian network Sportsnet. Jonah Sigel of Toronto Sports Media reported that news on X/Twitter on Thursday morning.

Details are scarce but multiple sources tell me that for unconfirmed draft reasons , @JeffMarek will likely be no longer performing duties at Sportnet hockey. Details to follow. This would appear to include his podcast duties too.

There is a ton of speculation as to the cause of the apparent seperation, however all we can confirm is he was at draft & then he wasn’t hasn’t been heard from since & told most likely won’t be back either .

C0lton Pankiw of The Daily Hive later confirmed Marek’s departure, with a Sportsnet spokesperson telling him “Jeff Marek is no longer with Sportsnet.”

Marek had a longtime presence on Sportsnet in Canada, often working on their hockey coverage across Sportsnet and CBC and having a presence on Sportsnet Radio and their podcasts. But, as Pankiw noted, Marek hasn’t appeared on The Jeff Marek Show or 32 Thoughts (the podcast he co-hosted with Elliotte Friedman) since June 28, the first day of this year’s NHL Draft.

It’s unclear what led to Marek’s departure now. Sigel (who runs the Toronto Sports Media website)’s reference to intensifying speculation suggests that this situation could be much murkier than it appears. Marek’s tenure at the prominent Canadian sports network has ended whatever the case.
